Nawi Island Limited Continues To Be A Friend Of The Environment

Since the launch of the programme in 2013, NIL has so far planted 15,000 mangrove seedlings.

Apart from bringing tourists and boosting Savusavu’seconomy, Nawi Island Limited (NIL) is also doing itsbit for the environment through its mangroverehabilitation programme.The company has been organising and plantingmangroves along the Savusavu shorelines.Since the launch of the programme in 2013, NIL hasso far planted 15,000 mangrove seedlings.Michael Gann, the managing director for Nawi IslandLimited had earlier said their programme had at leastan 80 to 85 per cent success rate.More than five schools, including parents, have beenparticipating in the rehabilitation programme.

Nawi Island Limited has also employed a full time marine biologist who specialises in corals as well as looking after the mangroves.
